Obituary

Mrs. Marten deNeui

Mrs. Marten deNeui, nee Engellina Oltmans, was born in Hardin county, Iowa, Sept. 11, 1869.

She was united in marriage to Marten deNeui March 16, 1892. To this union were born five children, namely, Flora, James, Mary and Theodore, and a son Thomas, who preceded the mother in death at the age of four years.

Mrs. deNeui was sick about two months with a disease which the doctors called Encephalitis, also having symptoms of the sleeping sickness and palsy.

She died in the Ellsworth hospital in Iowa Falls, March 9, 1921, at 1:30 a.m., aged 51 years, 5 months and 26 days.

The funeral was held March 12th at 1 o'clock p.m. from the family home south of Wellsburg and later to the Christian Reformed church in Wellsburg. Interment was made in the Wellsburg cemetery.

Rev. H. C. Bode was in charge of the funeral using Revelations, Chapter 14, Verse 13, for his text.

The deceased leaves to mourn her loss her husband, four children, a daughter-in-law, two sons-in-law, a grandchild, a brother, two half-brothers and four half-sisters. Also several uncles, aunts and cousins and many friends.

She was a church member for over 30 years, and at the time of her death, was a member of the new Christian Reformed church in Wellsburg, since its organization in October 1919.
