Agnes Graves Services Held

Agnes Graves passed away Tuesday, December 22, at the Long Term Care Unit of Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center having attained the age of 84 years, 8 months, and 24 days.

Funeral services were held Thursday, December 24, at the First Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center at 10:30 a.m. with Revs. David and Laura Stellmon officiating. Burial was at the Rose Hill Cemetery following the service.

Pallbearers were Paul Stinker, Jed Simms, Hollis Miller, Keith Bailey, Duane Sparenborg, and Jim Erpelding. Honorary pallbearers were Carl Palmer and Charles Goodman.

Agnes Bernice Graves was born March 28, 1908, in Gladbrook the daughter of Carl and Bessie (Nickerson) Laufer. She received her education in Gladbrook, graduating from Gladbrook High School in 1926.

On September 26, 1932, Agnes was united in marriage to Ralph A. Graves in Macomb, Illinois. They made their home in Grundy Center.

Agnes was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center and was a member of the Ladies Circle there. She was a member of the American Legion Women's Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph in 1965, one infant daughter; her parents; 4 brothers, Warden, Leonard, Billy and Merrill; and 3 sisters, Celestine Callahan, Judy Allard, and Marrette Robinson.

Survivors include a niece Betty Laufer of Chappaqua, NY and her children, Jonathan, Erin and Matthew Friedland; nephew Larry and wife Annette Erpelding of Dike and their sons Kirby and Jim; as well as other nieces and nephews.
