Harold Mooty Services Held
Harold Wood Mooty passed away Wednesday, December 16, at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center having attained the age of 67 years, 3 months, and 14 days.
Memorial services were held Saturday, December 19, at the United Methodist Church in Grundy Center at 10 a.m. with Pastor George Gibson officiating. The body was cremated. Inurnment was at the Rose Hill Cemetery, Grundy Center.
Memorials may be directed to the Grundy County Hospice.
Harold was born September 2, 1925, in Washington Township, Grundy county, the son of James Wesley and Viola (Wood) Mooty. He received his education in Grundy Center, graduating from Grundy Center High School in 1942.
On May 30, 1946, he was united in marriage to Roma Jean Brown at the First Baptist Church in Waterloo. Harold farmed in Washington Township all his married life until retiring in 1988. Besides farming, Harold worked for Cropmate Company and for Pioneer Seed Company, both in Reinbeck. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Grundy Center.
Harold was preceded in death by one son David and his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Roma Jean; two daughters, Mrs. Charles (Sheila) Branham of Treynor, and Mrs. Paul (Sandra) Samson of Nevada; four grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Mooty of Marshalltown, and Don Mooty of Cedar Rapids; three sisters, Mabel Bockes of Grundy Center, Joan Schroeder of Waukegan, IL, and Mary Schmidt of Iowa City; and his mother-in-law, Mrs. Edna Beckwith.
The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home of Grundy Center was in charge of the arrangements.
