Diane Schultz Services Held

Diane K. Schultz passed away Friday, November 13, at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center of natural causes. She attained the age of 25 years, 7 months, and 7 days.

Funeral services were held on Monday, November 16, at the United Methodist Church in Grundy Center at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor George E. Gibson officiating.

Pallbearers were Kris Koberg, Brett Zindel, Tristin Grover, Kevin Bass, Roger Colin, and Kevin Venenga.

Burial followed at Rose Hill Cemetery, Grundy Center.

A memorial fund has been established.

Diane was born April 6, 1967, in Grundy Center the daughter of Dean and Kay (Kruse) Schultz. She grew up and was educated in Grundy Center, graduating from Grundy Center High School in 1985. She furthered her education at AIB in Des Moines, then transferred to Simpson College in Indianola, where she graduated in 1990 with a degree in Elementary Education. Following graduation from Simpson, Diane taught preschool at the Dowling Preschool Academy in West Des Moines, until she became ill in June of 1991.

Diane will be remembered for her love of people, especially children, and for her caring and thoughtful nature. She enjoyed baking, crafts, needlework, and the time she spent during High School and College working at Manly Drug Store and As You Like It. Diane was a member of the United Methodist Church in Grundy Center.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Harry Kruse; and by her paternal grandfather, Clarence Schultz.

Survivors include her parents, Dean and Kay Schultz of Grundy Center; one sister Debra Schultz of West Des Moines; maternal grandmother, Mamie Kruse of Grundy Center; and paternal grandmother, Virginia Schultz of Grundy Center.

The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home of Grundy Center was in charge of the arrangements.
