Rites Held For Raymond Cooper

Raymond E. Cooper, 84, of Medford, OR, formerly of Santa Rosa, CA and Conrad, passed away on Tuesday, October 20 at Rogue Valley Manor, Medford, OR.

Private family memorial services will be held at the Johnston Funeral Home in Conrad at a later date. Rev. David Crow will officiate with interment to follow at the Conrad Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 698, Medford, OR 97501.

Raymond was born June 4, 1908 the son of Alva and Stella Pond Cooper in Conrad. He graduated from Conrad High School and then the University of Iowa.

On June 8, 1931, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Hitchcock in Medford, OR. He was associated with Kresge Stores until 1936. He owned Ben Franklin Stores in several locations in the Midwest and California, retiring in 1973. He enjoyed golfing and traveling.

He is preceded in death by his parents; one sister; and one brother.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; a daughter, Janet Pederson of Reno, NV; a son, John Cooper of Loleta, CA; 3 sisters, Frances Seaton of Prairie Village, KS, June Simms of Conrad, and Doris Mills of Anderson, SC; 2 brothers, Truman Cooper of Harlingen, TX, and Lewis Cooper of New Hampton; 6 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.

Johnston Funeral Home in Conrad is in charge of the arrangements.
