Keith Koehler Services Held

Keith Koehler, 73, of Conrad, passed away on September 23 at his home of cancer.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, September 26 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, Conrad, with Rev. Eric Nielsen and Rev. James Snare officiating. Pallbearers were Bruce Hespen, Dwayne Garber, Darrell Long, Gary Abbas, Rod Abbas, and Bart Love. Burial was at the Conrad Cemetery.

Keith was born the son of John A. and Minnie Mishler Koehler on July 9, 1919, in Conrad. He attended Conrad High School.

On December 21, 1940, he was united in marriage to Hazel Weatherman in Eldora. Keith was employed in Eldora at the International Harvester Dealership prior to their move to Conrad. After he and Hazel moved to Conrad he worked at Franzenburg's Meat Market, owned and operated the Mobile Oil Station from 1953 to 1958; owned and operated Koehler's Grill about 18 years; owned and operated Koehler's Mobile Home Park until he sold it in 1969 but continued to manage it. He was employed by Conrad U.S. Post Office as a substitute rural mail carrier for 25 years and became a full-time rural mail carrier in 1983. He retired August 21, 1992, due to his ill health.

He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Conrad, the Conrad American Legion Post #681, and the Rural Letter Carriers Association.

Keith was preceded in death by his parents and one sister in infancy.

Survivors include his wife, Hazel; a daughter, Nancy (Mrs. Mike) Stubbs of Conrad; a son, Merlyn Koehler of Redmond, OR; 5 sisters, Lois Long of Conrad, Helen (Mrs. Gilbert) Knights of Marshalltown, Lurane Judson of Ontario, OR, Wilma (Mrs. Jack) Rolston of Iowa City, and Marilyn (Mrs. Tom) Watson of Santa Cruz, CA; 1 brother, Karl Koehler of Boulder, CO; 4 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.

The Johnston Funeral Home of Conrad was in charge of the arrangements.
