J. Grimmius Services Held

JoHanna T. Grimmius passed away September 9 at the Grundy Care Center in Grundy Center having attained the age of 86 years, 11 months, and 9 days.

Funeral services were held Saturday, September 12, at the First Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center at 10:30 a.m. with Revs. David and Laura Stellmon officiating.

Pallbearers were Willis Grimmius, Harry Meyer, Wilbur Fletcher, Burnell Grimmius, Gary Stoehr, and Dale Grimmius.

Burial was at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Grundy Center.

JoHanna was born September 28, 1905, in Wellsburg the daughter of William and Tetta (Goudschaal) (Sonius) Stoehr. She received her education in Wellsburg and attended State Teachers College (UNI). She taught at country schools for eight years and was later a proof reader for the Spokesman Press in Grundy Center for 17 years.

On December 25, 1933 JoHanna was united in marriage to Leeno Grimmius in Wellsburg. They made their home together in Grundy Center.

JoHanna was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center. As a member there she taught Sunday School and was involved with the White Circle with the Presbyterian Women. She was a member of Sunset Rebekah Lodge, Grundy Center.

JoHanna was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, William Stoehr; two sisters, Margaret Fletcher, and Wilhelmina Stoehr; as well as 5 half-sisters, Davida Meyer, Etta Loots, Martha Rust, Bertha Schoon, and Lena Venenga; and three half-brothers, Coono Stoehr, Eggo Stoehr, and John Stoehr.

Survivors include her husband Leeno; two daughters,Carmen Curtis of Danville, CA, and Linda Mooty of Galesburg, IL; one son, Jim Grimmius of Marshalltown; 1 sister, Annette Grimmius of Grundy Center; 10 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home, Grundy Center, was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
