Robert Untiedt Services Held
Robert "Speck" Untiedt, 73, passed away on Monday, August 3 at the Oakview Nursing Home where he was a resident since December 1990.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, August 5 at 1:30 p.m. in the Beaman United Methodist Church with Rev. Shreve officiating.
Pallbearers were Bob Shatava, Lyle Gaston, Roger Gienger, Arlyn Schipper, Melvin Stephenson, and Howard Casebolt.
Burial was at the Oakland Cemetery, Beaman, with full military rites by the Weatherman Post 131.
Memorials may be directed to the Nature Trail and the Beaman United Methodist Church.
Robert was born the son of Rudolph and Alice Isenhower Untiedt on July 30, 1919 in rural Beaman. He graduated from the Beaman school in 1937, attending all 12 years.
He was united in marriage to Charlotte Barfels on November 10, 1942 at Beaman. Farming was "Speck's" love and his dairy cows. In 1942 he joined the United States Navy and was discharged in 1945. He returned to farming and due to poor health he retired in 1974.
"Speck" belonged to the Beaman United Church and the Weatherman Legion Post 131.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, James Paul.
He is survived by his wife Charlotte; three daughters, Judy (Mrs. Allen) Morrow of Beaman, Susan Untiedt of Marshalltown, and Ann (Mrs. Barry) Brockman; 4 grandsons, 1 granddaughter; and 1 great-granddaughter.
