Rites Held For Fannie Bruns
Fannie Bruns passed away Thursday, July 9, 1992 at the Long Term Care Unit of Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center, IA, having attained the age of 90 years, 9 months and 14 days.
Fannie was born September 25, 1901, in Beaver Township, Grundy County, IA, the daughter of Uke and Frauke (Schiller) Lupkes. She was raised and educated in Grundy County. On March 8, 1923, Fannie was united in marriage to Henry C. Bruns in Lincoln Township. Fannie and Henry made their home on the farm until moving to Grundy Center in January of 1960.
She was a member of American Lutheran Church in Grundy Center.
Preceding Fannie in death were her parents; husband, Henry on April 9, 1963; and one grandchild, Janet Faye.
Survivors include two sons, William and wife Fannie Bruns and Raymond and wife Enola Bruns, all of Dike; four grandchildren, Sandra Bruns of Dike, Tammie Chandler of Gallatin, TN, David Bruns of Waterloo and Dale Bruns of Stout; five great-grandchildren, Michael, Sarah and Samantha Chandler, and Brooke and Morgan Bruns; two brothers, Uke Lupkes of Parkersburg and Herman Lupkes of Grundy Center and two sisters, Rickstena Cordes of the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home and Mrs. Albert (Gertie) Cordes of Parkersburg.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 11 at the American Lutheran Church in Grundy Center at 1 p.m. with Pastor Paul Nelson officiating.
Casketbearers were Jim Lupkes, Vernon Cordes, Jurgen Webrand, Jurgen Niemann, Frank Eiklenborg and Larry Tonn.
Interment was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Grundy Center.
The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home, Grundy Center, was in charge of funeral arrangements.
