Rites Held For Ayelt Krull, Jr.
Ayelt A. Krull, Jr. of 108 West Poisal, Clarksville, IA, was born the son of Ayelt and Trentje Westerman Krull on July 29, 1919, near Parkersburg. He received his education in a rural Butler County School.
On December 14, 1945, Ayelt was united in marriage to Bernadine Wust at the St. John's Lutheran Church Parsonage near Vilmer. The couple farmed in Grundy County near Dike until 1965 when they moved to the Clarksville area to farm. October 1, 1989, they retired and moved to Clarksville.
Ayelt served his country in WWII with the 1020th Army Air Force from June 6, 1941 to September 19, 1945. His rank was sergeant. He received many decorations which included, six Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal and Unit Citation.
He was a member of the Pleasant Valley United Church of Christ, rural Clarksville.
On July 9 Ayelt died at the Waverly Municipal Hospital in Waverly, reaching the age of 72 years, 11 months and 10 days.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, David in 1961; one great-grandson, Levi Osterndorf in 1991; three sisters, Dena, Albertha and Clara.
Ayelt is survived by his wife, Bernadine; two sons, Darrel Krull and his wife Rondalyn of Cresco and Dennis Krull of Belmond; four daughters, Mrs. Rex (Hilda) Hummel of Grundy Center, Mrs. Gary (Marlys) Feldman of Quinn, SD, Mrs. Dan (Bonnie) Forry of Clarksville and Mrs. Steve (Karen) Dilger of Shell Rock; three sisters, Margaret Meester of Parkersburg, Anna Lindaman of Wellsburg and Trena Schipper of Aplington; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Monday, July 13 at 10:30 a.m. in the Pleasant Valley United Church of Christ, rural Clarksville, with Rev. Thomas Laufer officiating.
Casketbearers were Irwin Schipper, Darwin Schipper, Mark Wust, Michael Wust, Eldon DeVries, Virgil Lindaman and Ed Marks.
Interment was held in the Pleasant Valley Reformed Cemetery near Fern.
Schwartz Funeral Home of Clarksville was in charge of the arrangements.
