Vera Cuffel Services Held

Vera M. Cuffel passed away at the Oakview Nursing Home in Conrad on Monday, June 22 of congestive heart failure. She attained the age of 83 years.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, June 25, at the Liscomb Church of Christ with Rev. Helmer Peterson officiating. Pallbearers were Kevin Curry, Scott Graves, Ronald Nederhoff, James Nederhoff, Darrell Rust, and Larry Craig.

Interment was in Conrad Cemetery, Conrad.

Vera was born on October 18, 1908, in Dumont the daughter of George W. and Mary A. Becker Hanawalt. She received her education in Hansell where she graduated from Hansell High School. On June 5, 1926 she was united in marriage to Howard H. Cuffel in Allison. Vera spent her life as a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard in 1967; one infant son; her parents; one sister; and one grandson.

Vera is survived by four daughters, Lorraine Nederhoff of Wellsburg, Bonnie Rust of Beaman, Marjorie Schmoll of Cedar Falls, and Sharon Graves of Holland; two sons, Howard D. Cuffel of Marshalltown and Jerry G. Cuffel of Marion; one sister, Verna Place of Janesville; one brother, Lloyd Hanawalt of Paragould, AR; 15 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

Johnston Funeral Home in Conrad was in charge of the arrangements.
