Jean Stetzel Services Held

Jean Stetzel, 68, passed away on June 18 at the Senior Citizens Apartments in Conrad of heart failure.

Funeral services were held on Monday, June 22 at 10:30 a.m. at the Conrad United Methodist Church of which she was a member. The Rev. David Crow officiated. Casketbearers were Kent Higgins, Ted J. Woosley, Larry Mitchell, Ray Hurlbutt, Doug Stetzel and Larry Stetzel. Interment was in the Conrad Cemetery.

Jean was born October 17, 1923 in Ketchum, ID, the daughter of Joseph G. and Bertha Osborn Thompson. She received her education and graduated from Perry High School.

On February 19, 1922 she was united in marriage to Donald F. Stetzel. Jean was a retired seamstress for Dodger Manufacturing in Eldora. She also had worked over the years at Kibby Hardware, Brockway Ford, and Bones Cafe all of Conrad. She was a member of the Conrad American Legion and the Conrad United Methodist Women.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Donald in 1977; a son; her parents; and two brothers.

Survivors include a daughter, Chloe Webb of Marshalltown; a son, Dennis A. Stetzel of Cedar Falls; a sister, Mona Bettenfield of Port Richey, FL; a brother, Daryl Thompson of Minburn; 5 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild.

Johnston Funeral Home in Conrad was in charge of the arrangements.
