Floyd R. Rouse was born March 29, 1912, in Grundy Center the son of Ira and Ethel (Bloxham) Rouse. He passed away Sunday, June 7 at Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center having attained the age of 80 years, 2 months, and 9 days.
Floyd attended Grundy County country schools, and graduated from Grundy Center High School in 1930. After high school, Floyd operated White Eagle Oil Company until 1935. He was united in marriage to Ireine Bockes on August 14, 1935, at the First Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center. From 1935 until 1952, Floyd was employed by Kupka Motor Company in Grundy Center. At that time, he purchased the company and changed the name to Rouse Motor Company, Inc. He remained active in the business until October 21, 1991.
Floyd was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center where he served as elder and trustee. He was also a member of IOOF.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Eldon.
Survivors include his wife Ireine; two sons, Donald D. and wife Kayleen, and Paul A. and wife Joan, all of Grundy Center; four grandchildren, Beth, Martin, Lee, and Ann; one brother, Russell Rouse of Columbia, MO; two sisters, Elma Schaa of Conway, Arkansas, and Neta Lynn of Grundy Center.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 11 at First Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. David and Laura Stellmon officiating. Pallbearers will be Martin Rouse, Lee Rouse, Roger Engelkes, James Schaa, Mac Rouse, and Paul Vogt. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Grundy Center. A memorial fund has been established.
The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home, Grundy Center is in charge of the arrangements.
