Rites Held For Eldon St. Clair

Eldon L. St. Clair was born July 27, 1907, the son of John W. and Clara Belle Randall St. Clair in Marshalltown. He was educated in Conrad where he graduated from Conrad High School in 1925.

On February 20, 1939, Eldon was united in marriage to Nellie Furland at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. He was a long time well known Hereford breeder and a member of the National Hereford Breeders Association. He was a retired farmer in the Beaman area.

On Monday, May 25 Eldon passed away at the Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center of heart failure. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Forrest.

Survivors include his wife, Nellie; 2 daughters, Judith A. Mulcahy and Joyce I. Scoles both of Charles City; 2 sons, Elmer L. St. Clair of Des Moines, and Leigh W. St. Clair of Protection, KS; 1 sister, Velma I. Daggett of Marshalltown; 3 brothers, Wendell M. St. Clair of Conrad, Kenneth P. St. Clair of Council Bluffs, and Leonard R. St. Clair of Eugene, OR; and 9 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, May 28 at 1:30 p.m. at the Beaman United Methodist Church with the Rev. Robert Shreve officiating. Casketbearers were Jim Furland, Steve Corbin, Theodore Furland, Jon St. Clair, and Rodney Mulcahy. Burial was in the Conrad Cemetery. A memorial fund directed to the Des Moines Register and the Charles City Press has been established.

Johnston Funeral Home in Conrad was in charge of the arrangements.
