Rites Held For Anna Meinders

Ann Meinders of Aplington was born the daughter of Ben and Bertha Muntinga Hook on April 18, 1899, in Pleasant Valley Township, Grundy County. She attended rural school in Grundy County near her home.

On February 12, 1924, Anna was united in marriage to Martin B. Meinders in her parents home, rural route Parkersburg. This union was blessed with 3 children. They farmed together south of Aplington all of their lives. Upon profession of her faith in Jesus Christ as her personal Savior on February 6, 1938, she became a member of the St. Peter's United Church of Christ, rural route Wellsburg.

On March 4 Anna moved to Oak View Nursing Home in Conrad. On Saturday, May 9 at 12:45 a.m. Anna died at the Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center, Marshalltown. She reached the age of 93 years and 22 days. She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin on January 13, 1974; 1 daughter, Esther Meinders on July 2, 1989; her parents; 4 brothers, John, Rudolf, Harry, and Ben; and 1 sister, Carrie Nieman.

Anna is survived by 1 son Ben Meinders of Aplington; 1 daughter, Mrs. Irene and her husband Siebe Frey of Holland; one granddaughter, Mrs. DiAnn and her husband James Nobles of Manassas, Virginia; 2 sisters, Mrs. Clara VanHauen of Marion, and Mrs. Bernice Leerhoff of San Diego, California.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, May 12 at 10:30 a.m. in the St. Peter's United Church of Christ, rural route Wellsburg with Pastor Ronald Fisher officiating. Casketbearers were Marvin Hook, Merle Nieman, Kenneth Tack, Harold Jones, Kenneth Johnson, and Elwin Finger. Interment was held following the service in the St. Peter's United Church of Christ cemetery.
