Gloria Miller Services Held

Gloria Marlene Miller was born at home on June 14, 1940 in Butler County. She was the daughter of Herman and Henrietta (Karsjens) Miller. She passed away at her home in Grundy Center of cancer, on Friday, April 17 having attained the age of 51 years, 10 months, and 3 days.

Gloria received her education at a country school in Butler County and continued her education in Parkersburg. She graduated from Allison-Bristow High School in 1959. On May 24, 1986, she was united in marriage to Alvin E. Miller in Allison. They made their home in Grundy Center. She was a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church, Grundy Center. Gloria was baptized as an infant and was confirmed in 1964.

Gloria worked at Northwestern Bell Telephone Company, and for the soil Conservation Service Office in Waverly. For the last 19 years she was employed as office manager for the Grundy County Engineer's Office.

Surviving are her husband, Alvin; parents Henrietta and Herman Miller of Parkersburg; mother-in-law, Minnie Miller of Grundy Center; four brothers, Gary of Clear Lake, Daryl of Allison, and Darwin and Virgil, both of Parkersburg; one sister, Verlene Harken of Ackley; and twelve nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on Monday, April 20, at Bethany Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Calvin W. Vanderwerf officiating. Pallbearers were Joe Ross, Steve Thomassen, Curt Meester, Steve Holcomb, Amos Eckhoff, and Allen Cramer. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Grundy Center.

The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
