Roger Davis Services Held

Roger Leon Davis was born August 20, 1931 in Tama County, the son of Alvin T. and Emma I. (Kellogg) Davis. He passed away Saturday, March 28, at his home in Shirley, Arkansas, having attained the age of 60 years, 7 months, and 8 days.

Roger graduated from Dunbar High School in 1949. He was united in marriage to Donna Decker on May 25, 1952, in Marshalltown. Roger served in the United Stated Marine Corps during the Korean conflict. He was employed as a sales representative for Butler Paper Company, retiring on September 1, 1991.

Roger was a member of the United Methodist Church of Clinton, Arkansas. He was a member of Masons and Shrine and was active in the Shrine Vintage Auto Unit helping crippled children. Over the years he was a Boy Scout leader, Sunday School teacher, and served on the Dike Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of the American Legion in Dike.

Roger was preceded in death by his father; and two grandsons, Laine Davis and Jason Beenken.

Survivors include his wife, Donna; his mother Emma of Marshalltown; two sons, Kim of Grundy Center, and Shan of Cedar Falls; and one daughter, Lori Beenken of Bentonville, Arkansas; eight grandchildren; one foster grandchild; and two brothers, Wayne of Lantana, Florida, and Dean of Marshalltown.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, April 2 at the United Methodist Church in Dike at 11 a.m. with Dr. Gary L. Armstrong officiating. Pallbearers were Ron Davis, Steven Davis, Toby Klauenberg, Brad Klauenberg, Steven Cross, and Dennis Decker. Burial was in the Elmwood Cemetery in Dike with Military graveside rites conducted by the American Legion Post #471 of Dike.

The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home, Grundy Center, was in charge of the arrangements.
