Lois Cathcart Services Held

Lois M. Cathcart was born March 15, 1913 in rural Conrad the daughter of Joe and Edith (Rhodes) Clemens. She passed away Monday, March 30 at the Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls having attained the age of 79 years and 15 days.

Lois grew up on a farm in the Conrad area and graduated from Conrad High School in 1931. She was united in marriage to David (Gene) Cathcart on December 29, 1936 in Waterloo. They farmed in the Conrad and Reinbeck areas and moved to Dike in 1943.

Lois was a caregiver for the Jean Cain family and worked in the Housekeeping Department of the State College of Iowa in Cedar Falls for 5 years in the late 50's. She was a member of the Dike Rebekah Lodge and attended Dike Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Gene in 1990; and by one daughter, Betty A. Voss.

Survivors include one daughter, Beverly J. Voss of Cedar Falls; two sons, Robert W. Cathcart of Arkansas, and Richard D. Cathcart of Wisconsin; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Thelma Brindle of Beaman; and one brother, Les Clemens of Colorado.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, April 2 at the United Methodist Church in Dike at 1:30 p.m. with burial at Elmwood Cemetery, Dike. Pallbearers were Ben Clapp, Gale Gast, Jack Heritage, Tony Harm, Jerry Eimers, and Howard Bowers.

The Dike Funeral Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.
