Raymond Lynn Services Held

Raymond Gibson Lynn was born August 11, 1905, in rural Grundy County, the son of Harry A. and Lucia E. Gibson Lynn. He passed away March 28 at the Grundy Care Center, Grundy Center having attained the age of 86 years, 7 months, and 17 days.

Until becoming a resident of the Care Center in November of 1991, Mr. Lynn lived all his life on the farm where he was born. He attended rural school and graduated from the Grundy Center High School in 1921. He married Neta P. Rouse on May 19, 1934. Raymond farmed the home place. He also raised registered Polled Hereford cattle and was well-known as a taxidermist.

Mr. Lynn served several years on the board of directors of the Farmers Co-Operative Elevator in Grundy Center. He was a member of the First Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Neta of Grundy Center; two daughters, Laura and husband Allen Frerichs of Grundy Center, and Carol and husband Warren Cook of Ames; and two grandchildren, Ian Frerichs and wife Candace of Grundy Center, and Anita Frerichs of Altamonte Springs, Florida.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, April 1 at the First Baptist Church in Grundy Center at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Theodore W. Ertle officiating. Pallbearers were Donald Rouse, Paul Rouse, Robert Sealman, Erwin Haren, Willis Grimmius, and Kenneth Hohenberger. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Grundy Center.

The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center was in charge of the arrangements.
