Edward "Ed" Kadner, 84, of Conrad, IA, passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2012, at Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, December 1, 2012, at the First Presbyterian Church in Conrad. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, November 30, 2012, at the First Presbyterian Church in Conrad. Interment will be at the Conrad Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Ed's name. The Conrad Chapel of the Anderson Funeral Homes has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Ed was born April 7, 1928 in Quarry, IA, to Joseph and Ludmilla (Skramovsky) Kadner. He graduated from Albion High School in 1947. Ed was united in marriage to Irmgard Horstmann on August 22, 1950 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. Ed and Irmgard started farming outside Gladbrook, IA, and in 1961 they moved to Conrad. Ed loved to farm, something he did his entire life. Ed was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Conrad. He and Irmgard enjoyed spending time with family and friends. They also traveled all over Iowa/the Midwest to go dancing to old time music. Ed loved to attend card parties and reading western novels. He also enjoyed attending his children’s, grandchildren’s, and more recently, his great-grandchildren’s activities.

Ed will be missed by his loving wife of 62 years, Irmgard; a son, Jim (Donna) Kadner of Conrad; a daughter, Jan (Dennis) Hines of Conrad; five grandchildren, Shannan (Ryan) Callaway, Jeremy (Mary Beth) Hines, Lisa (Travis) Hans, Joel (Jennifer) Hines, Jason (Stacey) Hines; and four great-grandchildren, Alexa and Ray Callaway and Ashton and Cooper Hans.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Joseph, Rudolph, Anton, and Frank Kadner.
