Duncan L. McMartin, 89, of Grundy Center, IA passed away, Thursday, December 13, 2012, at Westbrook Acres, in Gladbrook, IA. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, December 17, 2012 at the Alice Church of God in rural Conrad. Visitation will be 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, December 16, 2012, at the Conrad Chapel of the Anderson Funeral Homes. Interment will be at Oakland Cemetery, in Beaman, IA.

Duncan was born on July 28, 1923 in Beaman to Arch J. and Leta (Clarey) McMartin. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Talbott on November 3, 1948 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. Duncan was in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He lived his entire life in Grundy county, farming in Melrose Township. He was a member of the Alice Church of God, the Weathermen-Walter American Legion Post of Beaman, the Masonic Roman Lodge #564, A.F. & A.M. of which he was past master. Duncan also served on the Grundy County R.E.C. board.

Duncan will be missed by a daughter, Dixie Phillips of Grundy Center, IA, a son, DeeGene (Linda) McMartin of Grundy Center, daughter-in-law Kathy McMartin of Grundy Center, eight grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy, a son Darrell, a grandson Clinton McMartin, and a brother Frank.
