Dora M. Stambaugh, 86, of Conrad, IA, passed away Thursday, February 26, 2015, at Oakview Nursing Home in Conrad. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 28, 2015, at Conrad United Methodist Church, in Conrad. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. until the time of the services at the church. The family would like to thank Oak Estates and Oakview Nursing Home for their compassionate care for Dora. Memorials may be directed to the Conrad United Methodist Church Capital Improvement Fund.

Dora was born on January 11, 1929 in Conrad, Iowa, the youngest child of Leonard R. and Bessie M. (Freed) Loverin. Dora grew up in Conrad and graduated from Conrad High School in 1946. Dora was united in marriage to Earl D. Stambaugh at the Methodist Church in Conrad on January 11, 1948. Earl and Dora had two children, Dian Elaine and Larry James. They farmed in Palermo Township, Grundy County. After Earl’s death on February 18, 1955, Dora and the children moved to a small house behind her parents in Conrad. Dora worked as a secretary for Ritchie Manufacturing from 1958 to 1991 when she retired.

Dora was a member of the Conrad United Methodist Church and was active in various committees, member of the Conrad American Legion Auxiliary, and a member of Royal Neighbors of America. Dora loved to attend her grandchildren’s school programs and sporting events as well as high school softball games. She enjoyed traveling on Y bus trips in the U.S. and abroad. Some of her hobbies were bike riding, cross country skiing, golfing, baking, playing cards and reading.

Dora is survived by her daughter Dian (Gary) Engle of rural Marshalltown, her son, Larry (Sue) Stambaugh of Conrad, grandchildren Jill (Kent) Hayes, Eric (Nicole) Engle, Lisa (Brad) Simma, Sarah (Colin) Burnett, Alex Stambaugh, 10 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, sister Barbara Tranbarger of Conrad, sister-in-law Millie Loverin of Ruidoso, NM, niece Jaclyn (Lyle) Stolzman of Conrad, nephews Leonard (Janice) Tranbarger of rural Conrad, Denny (Susan) Loverin of Westworth Village, TX, Richard (Janis) Loverin of Ruidoso, NM, and many extended family members and beloved friends.

Dora was preceded in death by her parents, husband Earl, brother Richard D. Loverin 1988, brother-in-law Jon Tranbarger 2011, and infant twin great-grandsons.
