Melissa Anne Butler Weatherly died Saturday, October 18, 2014, at the Iowa River Hospice House, Marshalltown, surrounded by her family. Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 8, 2014, at the First Presbyterian Church, in Conrad. The Conrad Chapel of the Anderson Funeral Homes has assisted with the arrangements.

Melissa was born in San Antonio Texas on January 27, 1954 to Carroll W. and Katherine M. (Shepherd) Butler. She graduated from BCL High School. She married Ronald E. Weatherly in February of 1970. They later divorced. Melissa loved animals and had many over the years including her horse Shadow. Her two cats gave her great joy during her last months and she cared for family pets often. She was a very caring person to everyone who touched her life always putting others first and will be missed by many.

Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Katherine Marie (Bryan) Councilman, and Amber Kristine Weatherly , six grandchildren, Michael, Ashley Keaton, Colvin, Colton, and Lola, all of North Carolina, one sister, Janice (David) Juchems, of Conrad, two brothers, Edward (Jo Ann) Butler of Conrad and Richard Butler of Beaman and many nieces and nephews, also all who knew her in the Community, the residents and co-workers at Oakview where she was employed and the customers and employees of Home Town Foods where she was also employed.
