Bev Harms, age 81 of Cresco, Iowa died Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at the Evans Home in Cresco.

Bev was born June 12, 1934 at Eldora, Iowa to Alfred J. and Dorette (Carlson) Cordes. She graduated from Eldora High School, received an Associate's Degree from Hawkeye Tech and graduated from the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls, with a BS in Nursing. She married Herbert Zimmerman, they later divorced, she later married Jim Harms.

Early in her career Bev worked as a nurse at the hospitals in Eldora and Independence Iowa. Later as a nurse at Aase Haugen Nursing Home in Decorah and the Evans Home in Cresco, from where she retired, but continued to work part-time, fully retiring in 2011.

In the mid 1990s Jim and Bev moved to the Protivin, Iowa area where they purchased a farm. Bev enjoyed quilting, sewing, knitting, gardening and cats. She was an active member in the Stavanger Church and attended Bible Studies there.

Bev is survived by four children: Joyce Casey of Spartanburg, S. Carolina, Keith (Dianne) Zimmerman of Evansdale, Iowa, Jana Johnson of Woodstock, Georgia and Roger (Vicky) Zimmerman, of Charles City, Iowa; a daughter-in-law: Tessa Zimmerman of Cambridge, Iowa; 15 grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and a sister, Colleen Morse of Adel, Iowa.

Bev was preceded in death by her husband Jim in 2006, a son, Bruce in 2015, a brother Darrell and his wife Carla Cordes, and a brother-in-law, Adolph Morse.
