Thelma Metge Services Held

Thelma T. Metge was born April 23, 1905 the daughter of Thomas J. and Sarah Burke Conkin in Fall Branch, TN. She passed away on Tuesday, January 7 at Oakview Nursing Home in Conrad.

Thelma received her education in Tennessee and came to Iowa at the age of 14 to live with her brother. Thelma was united in marriage to August F. Metge. She and August farmed in Zearing and State Center before moving to Conrad area in 1937. She was a homemaker, a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Conrad, a former member of the Progress Club and the OFO Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband, August in 1983; her parents; 4 sisters; and 4 brothers.

Survivors include one daughter, Vivian Dennis, Conrad; one son, Merle Metge, Conrad; 5 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on January 11 at 1:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Conrad with Rev. Eric Nielsen officiating. Casket bearers were Denny Metge, Steve Metge, Eugene Miller, Bill Hartwig, Calvin Osgood, and Duane Conkin. Burial was in the Conrad Cemetery.

The Johnston Funeral Home in Conrad was in charge of the arrangements.
