Lucille Henze Services Held

Lucille Vernie Henze was born on October 25, 1913 in rural Grundy county to Elmer and Agnes Boike Hoffa. She passed away on October 28 at the Long Term Care Unit at the Grundy County Hospital. She died of natural causes and had attained the age of 78 years and 3 days.

Lucille attended the rural schools in Grundy County and remained a resident of Grundy County her entire life. On February 10, 1931, Lucille was united in marriage to Klaas Itzen. To this union two children were born; Margaret and Ronald. In 1959, Klaas passed away. In August of 1963, Lucille was united in marriage to John Henze. John passed away in 1980. Lucille was a homemaker and worked for two years at Norwesco in Grundy Center.

Lucille was a member of the American Lutheran Church and the women's organizations therein. Some of Lucille's favorite pastimes were gardening, baking, her great-grandchildren and she enjoyed traveling.

Lucille was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands Klaas and John; her daughter Margaret; and a grandson Brian.

Lucille is survived by her son Ronald and wife Darlene of Grundy Center; a son-in-law Bernard Venenga of Grundy Center; one grandchild; two great-grandchildren; and a sister Hattie Ellis of Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, October 31 at 1:30 p.m. at the American Lutheran Church in Grundy Center. Pastor Paul Nelson officiated. Interment was in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Grundy Center.

The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
