Flossie Creswell Services Held

Flossie Irene Creswell was born on August 14, 1904 to William and Mary McMackin Smith in Hudson. She passed away on October 24 at the Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls, having attained the age of 87 years, 2 months, and 10 days.

Flossie grew up in the Hudson and Reinbeck areas and graduated from the Reinbeck High School in 1923. On December 4, 1924, Flossie was united in marriage to Roy Creswell at the First Presbyterian Church in Waterloo. To this union, one daughter was born, Marlys.

Flossie spent her entire lifetime as a homemaker. Flossie's memberships included United Methodist Church of Dike, United Methodist Women, and the Rebekah Lodge in Dike.

Flossie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Roy in 1989; two brothers; and three sisters.

She is survived by her daughter Marlys and husband John Paige of Dike; three grandchildren, Kathi Paige of Grundy Center, Lori Carlson of Waverly, and Jim Paige of Davenport; three great-grandchildren, Kyle, Kelli, and Kara; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, October 26 at the United Methodist Church in Dike at 2 p.m. The Rev. Gary Armstrong officiated. Interment was in the Elmwood Cemetery in Dike. "How Great Thou Art" and "The Old Rugged Cross" were played. The organist was Velda Groote.

The casket bearers were Wayne Paige, John Creswell, Mervin Anderson, Duane Habben, Leonard Verba, and John Gutknecht. Usher was Jack Heritage.

Dike Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
