Lillye Winter Services Held
Lillye Love Winter, 66, passed away on August 4 at the Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines.
Funeral services were held on August 7 at 10:30 at the Beaman United Methodist Church with the Rev. Shrebe officiating.
Organist was Nancy Hogancamp and pianist was Connie Kruse.
Pallbearers were Hank Miller, Malcomb Miller, Art Bine, Chuck Neff, Bill Myers, and Martin Myers.
Burial was in the Oakland Cemetery in Beaman.
Lillye was born the daughter of Emmett A. Kimbrough, Sr. and Nan Truesdale Kimbrough on August 17, 1922, in Scott, MS. She was reared in Scott, MS, and graduated from high school there. She attended Delta State University in the music education program.
Lillye was united in marriage to Robert Winter on May 30, 1948, in Silver City, MS. She taught elementary music. Lillye and her husband did their ministry work in Mississippi and Iowa until 1988 when they moved back to Beaman. She was a member of the Beaman United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and was on the Beaman Library board.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband; one son, David Winter of Kansas; one daughter, Mary Nan Christian of Webb; 3 grandchildren and one brother, Emmett A. Kimbrough Jr. of Mississippi.
Johnston Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
