Reinbeck Woman Fatally Injured In 2-Vehicle Accident
A Reinbeck woman was fatally injured in a two vehicle accident Monday, June 10, five miles south of Hudson at the junction of Highways 63 and 175.
Caroline Storjohann, 80, was a passenger in a 1985 Chevrolet Caprice driven by her husband, Alfred, 83, both of Reinbeck. Mr. Storjohann was eastbound on Hwy. 175, stopped for a stop sign, and pulled out onto Hwy. 63 in the path of a semi tractor/trailer driven by J. C. Stewart Jr., 36, of 522 Archer St., Waterloo.
The Storjohann vehicle was struck on the passenger side, killing Mrs. Storjohann instantly.
Mr. Storjohann and Stewart were transported to Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo, where Storjohann is listed in serious condition. Stewart was treated and released. The Storjohanns were both wearing seat belts.
The accident was covered by the Iowa State Patrol, the Hudson Fire Dept., and the Black Hawk County Sheriff's Dept. The accident remains under investigation.
