Rites Held For Harm F. Stahl

Harm F. Stahl, age 91, passed away at the Grundy Care Center on June 30.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, July 3, at the Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Glenn R. Dieken officiating.

Pallbearers were his grandsons Ron Heyenga, Daryl Heyenga, Dennis Heyenga, Jerry Stahl, Alan Stahl and Ron Bartlett.

Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Grundy Center. A memorial fund has been established.

Harm Stahl of Grundy Center was born the son of Jurgen and Sophie Frerichs Stahl on July 7, 1899. He grew up and attended country school in Grundy county.

Harm was united in marriage to Mattie Meester on February 11, 1925 in Grundy county. Harm and Mattie farmed in Grundy county until moving into Grundy Center in 1948. Harm then became a carpenter and handyman for many years. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center.

Harm was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Mattie in 1985; two brothers, John Stahl and Fritz Frerichs; one step-sister, Tena Paterni; and two step-brothers, Bernard Stahl and Herman Stahl.

Survivors include one daughter, Marlys I. Heyenga of Stout; one son, Donald L. Stahl of Grundy Center; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two step-sisters, Alice Bartling of Hackensack, MN, and Mabel Nederhoff of Wellsburg; and one step-brother, Edwin Stahl of Wellsburg.

Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center was in charge of arrangements.
