Anna Nielsen Services Held

Anna C. Nielsen, 95, of Dike, passed away on Thursday, June 20, at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home in Cedar Falls.

Funeral services were held on Monday, June 24, at Fredsville Evangelical Lutheran Church in rural Cedar Falls at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. David Stewart officiating.

Pallbearers were Terry Goetzinger, Brian Goetzinger, Glen Nielsen, Steven Nielsen, Robert Nielsen, and Merlyn Petersen.

Burial was in the church cemetery.

Anna, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Niels Hansen, was born on March 16, 1896, in Faxe, Denmark. Mrs. Nielsen came to the United States at the age of seven. She grew up and obtained her education in Cedar Falls.

On February 16, 1916, she was united in marriage to Carl Nielsen. Anna and Carl farmed near Dike until their retirement in 1972. They moved into Dike in 1973. Anna made her home at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home in 1980. She enjoyed flowers and gardening, hosting guests, and especially her grandchildren. She was a very caring person who offered a helping hand to anyone in need.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Carl in 1978; two daughters, Wilma and Helen; one brother, Irenius Hansen; and four sisters, Inger Philipsen, Ellen Christensen, Karen Jensen, and Katherine Deeming.

She is survived by two sons, Harlan of Dike, and William of Moravia; one daughter, Mrs. Bud (Joyce) Goetzinger of Dike; 9 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

A memorial fund has been established.

The Dike Funeral Chapel, Dike, was in charge of professional arrangements.
