Jennie Harken Services Held

Funeral services for Jennie Harken, 84, of Ackley, were held Monday, May 13, 1991, at 10:30 a.m. at West Friesland Presbyterian Church with Rev. Lee Mashburn officiating.

Interment was at the West Friesland Cemetery, Ackley.

Jennie, the daughter of Harm and Christina Arends Janssen, was born on September 7, 1906, at Aplington. She passed away Thursday, May 9, at the Heritage Care Center, Iowa Falls.

She attended the German #6 school in Wellsburg.

On February 20, 1929, she was united in marriage to Isebrandt C. Harken at the West Friesland Presbyterian Church parsonage.

Jennie was a member of the West Friesland Presbyterian Church, of the WIC group at church and the German Township Homemakers.

Survivors include one son, Eugene Harken, of rural Aplington; one sister, Nancy Riebkes of Wellsburg; and three grandsons, Dennis Harken of Coralville, Darrel Harken of Cambridge and David Harken of Lake Crystal, MN.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

The Brandt-Fritz Funeral Home, Ackley, was in charge of arrangements.
