Rites Held For Ralph E. Engle

Ralph E. Engle, 70, of Conrad, passed away Saturday, April 27, at the Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center.

Funeral services were held at the Church of Christ in Liscomb on Tuesday, April 30, at 10:30 a.m., with the Rev. Helmer Peterson officiating, with interment in the Conrad Cemetery.

Ralph, the son of Ralph Earl Sr., and Gertie Ellen Engle, was born on September 10, 1920, in State Center. He attended school in State Center until the second grade. At that time they moved and he attended St. Anthony graduating in 1938.

Ralph was united in marriage to Arlene Erma Cory on December 15, 1940.

Ralph was a member of the Church of Christ in Liscomb, where he served as Deacon, and as a trustee. He was also a member of the Roman Masonic Lodge #564, A.F. and A.M., Conrad.

Ralph was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Linda Kay Engle, and one sister, Marian Engle who passed away at age 14.

Survivors include his wife, Arlene; two sons, Ronald E. of Conrad, and Gary E. of Marshalltown; one daughter, Mrs. John (Julie Ann) McNair of Conrad; two sisters, Ruth Engle of Melbourne, and Sylvia Gilmore of Marshalltown; one brother, Gaylord W. of Indianola; 12 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.

Johnston Funeral Home in Conrad was in charge of arrangements.
