Opal A. Cone Services Held

Opal Amelia Cone was born January 4, 1908, in Wellsburg, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Bessie Eygabroad Lutz. She passed away Friday, April 26, 1991, at her home in Grundy Center, Iowa, having attained the age of 82 years, 3 months, and 22 days.

Opal grew up and was educated in Wellsburg, graduating from Wellsburg High School in 1927. She was united in marriage to Elwood Cone on October 8, 1935, in Wellsburg, Iowa. She was very active in her church until about three years ago when failing health prevented much activity. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center. In earlier years, Opal worked at Sentman General Store in Wellsburg and at Tick Tock Market in Grundy Center. She also worked for a time at her parents' restaurant in Wellsburg before her marriage to Elwood.

Opal was a member of the S.K. Club, and the Jolly Dozen Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Lester Lutz; and one infant brother.

She is survived by her husband, Elwood.

Funeral services were held Monday, April 29, at First Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center at 1:30 p.m. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Grundy Center. The Reverends David and Laura Stellmon officiated.

Pallbearers were Carroll Doak, Allan Myers, Delbert Jungling, Randall Thoren, Pat Brown and Kenneth Buskohl.

The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home, in Grundy Center, was in charge of professional arrangements.
