Rites Held For Katie Wiltfang

Katie A. Wiltfang was born September 16, 1906, in Grundy County near Stout, the daughter of Harry and Hattie Walterman Wiltfang. She passed away Friday, April 19, 1991, at the Grundy Care Center in Grundy Center, Iowa, having attained the age of 84 years, 7 months, and 3 days.

Katie received her education in the rural school near her home. Katie was a lifetime member of the Reformed Church of Stout. Katie moved to Parkersburg in 1957, taking care of her father until his death. Her hobbies included crocheting, quilting, crafts, baking, and gardening.

In 1981 Katie became ill with cancer and received treatment at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo. She was taken to Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center for another year of treatment, and stayed at the Long Term Care Unit until January 6, 1984, when she moved to Maple Manor in Aplington, Iowa. On August 31, 1990 Katie moved to Grundy Care Center in Grundy Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, William Walterman; and brother-in-law Fritz Hulseman.

Katie is survived by one sister: Grace Hulseman of rural Dike; one nephew; and three nieces; several cousins; and friends.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 23, at the Reformed Church of Stout, Stout, IA, at 1:30 p.m. Pastor Don Ringnalda officiated.

Pallbearers were Henry Bolhuis, Bill Bergman, Jerald Eilderts, Ted Lauzon, Calvin Heyenga and Alvin Eilderts.

The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home, Grundy Center, was in charge of professional arrangements.
