Ramona Aswegan Service March 6
Ramona C. Aswegan, 50, of Grundy Center, formerly of Muscatine, passed away Monday, March 4, at the Grundy Care Center, in Grundy Center.
Services were held Wednesday, March 6, at the United Methodist Church in Grundy Center at 2 p.m., with the Rev. D. Ward Young officiating. Friends could call from 9-noon Wednesday, March 6, at Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home, in Grundy Center, and at the church one hour prior to services.
Pallbearers were Ted Junker, Tim Junker, Tom Junker, Randy Charlton, Dan Aswegan, and Eldon Aswegan. Honorary bearer was John Haller.
Interment was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, in Grundy Center.
Ramona, the daughter of Henry and Martha Berends Behrends, was born on June 5, 1940, in Grundy County. She grew up and attended school in the Grundy County area. Ramona was employed as a telephone operator in Grundy Center until the time of her marriage.
On October 28, 1958, Ramona was united in marriage to Allen Aswegan in Grundy Center. The couple made their home in Grundy Center until 1963 when they moved to Muscatine.
Ramona was a member of the Park Avenue United Methodist Church in Muscatine where she served as a substitute Sunday School teacher. She also enjoyed knitting.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband, Allen of Muscatine; one son Allen, of Muscatine; two daughters, Robin Haller, of Grundy Center, and Caroline Aswegan, of Muscatine; three sisters, Marcella Kramer, of Storm Lake, Mrs. Francis (Gerry) Grove, of Conrad, and Mrs. Norma (Frederic) Junker, of Parkersburg, and three grandchildren.
A memorial fund has been established.
The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center was in charge of arrangements.
