Rites Held For Mary Plaehn

Mary S. Plaehn, 91, of Parkview Manor Nursing Home, in Reinbeck, formerly of Palmetto, FL, and Grundy Center, passed away Monday, February 18, at the Nursing Home of natural causes.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, February 20, at 10:30 a.m., at the First Presbyterian Church, in Grundy Center, with Rev. David Stellmon, and Rev. Laura Stellmon officiating.

Pallbearers were Jay Barfels, Scott Mueller, Paul Weiss, Gerald Ehrig, Don Dittmer, and Carsen Plaehn.

Burial was in the Reinbeck Cemetery.

Mary was born to Jens and Katrina Aagard Sorensen on September 25, 1899, in Dike.

Mary was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Winona (Les) Barfels, of Reinbeck; one son Charles L. Plaehn, and his wife Jo, of Mt. Pleasant, SC; one brother, Arthur Jorgensen, of Charles City; 6 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Parkview Manor, in Reinbeck.

The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home, in Grundy Center, was in charge of professional arrangements.
