Service Held For Bernyce Struntze

Bernyce Struntze, 74, of Dike passed away Thursday, January 17, at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home in Cedar Falls.

Services were held Monday, January 21, at 1:30 p.m., at the Fredsville Evangelical Lutheran Church, in rural Cedar Falls, with Pastor Don Benson officiating.

Pallbearers were Delmar Danielsen, Paul Reinicke, Gary Andersen, Jack Mommer, Ralph Thuesen, and Harlan Nielsen.

Burial was in the Fredsville Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery, in rural Cedar Falls.

Bernyce, the daughter of Henry and Anna Henningsen Struntze, was born on April 29, 1916, in Dike. She grew up in Dike, and graduated from Dike High School in 1933. She then went on to graduate from the Teachers College in Cedar Falls in 1937. Bernyce taught not only in Iowa, but spent two years teaching in Hoquiam, WA. She taught 25 years in Cedar Rapids, before retiring in 1981. After retiring she returned to Dike, then moved to the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home in 1990.

Bernyce was a lifetime member of Fredsville Lutheran Church, in rural Cedar Falls, and a member of the Iowa State Teachers Association. She enjoyed sewing and knitting in her spare time.

Preceding her in death were her parents, and one great-nephew.

She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Holger (Jeanette) Jensen, of Dike, and several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be directed to the Fredsville Lutheran Church, and to the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home.

The Dike Funeral Chapel, in Dike was in charge of arrangements.
