Rites Held For Bernard Reents

Bernard C. Reents, 67, passed away early Monday, January 7, at his home northwest of Wellsburg.

Services will be held Thursday, January 10, at 10:30 a.m., at the Ivester Church of the Brethren, in rural Wellsburg. The Rev. Phil Rieman, and Rev. Louise Rieman will officiate the service.

Pall bearers will be Lary Riebkes, Meint Bakker, Bruce Berghuis, Ron Jungling, Keith Bunger, and Kevin Bunger. Honorary bearers will be A. E. "Bud" Field, Dr. Ben Gavin, Roy DeNeui, Everett Foster, Glen Gates, and Clarence Slifer.

Burial will be in the Sheller Cemetery.

Bernard, the son of John and Bessie Aieken Reents, was born on May 4, 1923, in Clara City, MN. He attended rural schools in the Wellsburg area.

On September 6, 1948, he was united in marriage to Geni Freed at the Ivester Church. They farmed near Whitten, for five years before moving to their present farm, northwest of Wellsburg.

Mr. Reents was a World War II veteran. He also was a member of the Farm Bureau. He served on several boards for the Ivester Church, and belonged to the Wellsburg coffee drinkers.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Geni; four sons, Richard John, of Wakonda, IL, David Christopher, Joe D. and Michael Dole, all of Wellsburg; one daughter, Mable Eileen "Pip" Noyes, of Stone City; one sister, Harriet Berghuis, of Wellsburg, and nine grandchildren.

A memorial fund has been established.

The Doyen-Abels Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
