Services Held For Karl Kopsa
Karl Kopsa, 83, passed away Monday, December 24, at the Oakview Nursing Home in Conrad.
A public Vigil Service was held on Wednesday, December 26, at the Johnston Funeral Home in Conrad.
Services were held Thursday, December 27, at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic church in Grundy Center, with Rev. Everett Frese officiating.
Casket bearers were John Kopsa, Robert Kopsa, Donald Kopsa, L. J. Kopsa, David Kopsa, and Harold Sckramousky.
Burial was at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Cemetery, in Grundy Center.
Karl was born on January 15, 1907, in Roknitz, Czechoslovakia. He attended school in Czechoslovakia, and for a few months at Marshall County Country School.
On February 21, 1993[sic], in Churdan, IA, he was united in marriage to Marie Taiber.
Mr. Kopsa farmed northeast of Conrad until 1970 when he retired and moved to the town of Conrad.
Karl was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Grundy Center, Holy Name Society, and the Knights of Columbus. He was a former member of the Conrad Lions Club, Conrad Senior Citizens, and the Grundy County Farm Bureau.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters; and three brothers.
Karl is survived by his wife, Marie, of Conrad; two sons, Frances Kopsa, of Marshalltown, and Leo Kopsa of Beaman; one daughter, Mrs. A. J. Ream (Barbara); one sister, Tressa Sckramousky of Marshalltown; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.
Johnston Funeral Home in Conrad was in charge of arrangements.
