Services Held For Henry K. Meester

Funeral services were held last Tuesday afternoon at the Pleasant Valley Reformed Church for Henry K. Meester, 61. Mr. Meester passed away last Saturday evening, Feb. 7th, at the Allen Memorial Hospital, Waterloo, where he had been a patient for the preceding 10 days. He had been in failing health for the past three years.

Rev. Gerald Osland officiated at the services. Burial was in the church cemetery. The Dike Funeral Chapel were in charge of the arrangements. The body was at the Dike Funeral Chapel from Sunday afternoon until being taken to the church at noon Tuesday for viewing prior to the services.

Henry K. Meester was born August 14, 1908, in Grundy county, the son of Thomas K. and Anna Peters Meester. He was married to Tena DeVries at the Pleasant Valley Reformed Church parsonage on Feb. 25, 1932. He farmed for eight years on a farm 3 miles west of Fern and for the past 30 years on land 2 miles northwest of Dike. He was a member of the Pleasant Valley Reformed Church.

Survivors include his widow, Tena; three sons, Alvin of rural Reinbeck, Marvin of rural Dike, and Gaylen at home; one daughter, Mrs. Marvin (Rosalinda) Aalderks of Parkersburg; four brothers, John K., Herman, James and Johannes all of Holland; three sisters, Mrs. Etta Renken of Aplington, Mrs. Sam (Tena) Paterni of Eldora, and Mrs. Alle (Anna) Murra of Holland and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
