Rites Friday For Mrs. Franzenburg
Mrs. Barbara Franzenburg wife of former state treasurer Paul Franzenburg, died suddenly Tuesday morning at Des Moines.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the West Des Moines Methodist Church, and at 3 p.m. at the Conrad Methodist Church. Burial will be at Conrad.
Mrs. Franzenburg became ill during the night and was dead on arrival at Iowa Methodist Hospital. A heart attack was the probable cause of death. She had not been ill previously.
The Franzenburgs have lived at West Des Moines since Mr. Franzenburg gave up his Conrad business interests to become state treasurer. He is now manager of the Iowa-Illinois division of King's Food Host, USA.
The deceased is survived by her husband; a daughter, Christine of Iowa City; two sons, Stephen of Des Moines and Ross in California;; her mother, Mrs. Kathleen Stewart of West Des Moines; and her father, Ross Stewart of Tucson, Arizona.

Many Attend Rites For Mrs. Paul Franzenburg
The funeral service in the Conrad Methodist church last Friday afternoon for Mrs. Paul Franzenburg, was one of the largest services ever held here. The Franzenburg's are well known throughout the state, and many former and present state officials were here for the service, as well as countless friends from every part of the state.
Prior to the service in Conrad, a service was held that morning in the West Des Moines United Methodist church. Officiating ministers were Rev. Ray Howland and Rev. Russell Wilson. Miss Evelyn Stevens was organist. Mrs. Bess Loverin, Mrs. Vane Graham and Mrs. Clyde Newton took care of the multitude of floral arrangements.
Interment was in the Conrad cemetery.
Casket bearers were: Leo Dodd, Jack Hughes, Jerry Schryver, Paul Simms, Van Graham and H. P. Graeber.
Honorary casket bearers were: Sen. Harold E. Hughes, Lawrence Scalise, Lorne Worthington, H. Don Martin, Kenneth Owen, Gary Cameron, Dr. R. K. Patterson and Robert Fulton.
Barbara E. (Stewart) Franzenburg was born May 3, 1916 in Rockford, Ill., and passed away February 10th at her home, 504 Ashworth Road, West Des Moines.
She was married to Paul Franzenburg on August 17, 1940 at Fort Dodge.
She was a member of the Women's Society of Christian Service, and of the West Des Moines United Methodist Church, the Crestview Acres Guild in Des Moines and the Conrad American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include the widower, two sons, Stephen of Des Moines, Ross of Sherman Oaks, California, one daughter, Christine, Iowa City, four grandchildren, her parents, Mrs. Kathleen Stewart, West Des Moines and Ross Stewart, Tucson, Arizona.
