Mrs. Bowers Services Held Monday
Services for Bessie Estel Bowers, 82, who died Thursday evening at the Oakview Nursing Home, where she had lived for over a year were held Monday at 2 p.m., at Johnston Funeral Home.
The Rev. Ray C. Howland officiated. Evelyn Stevens was organist.
Flower bearers were Mrs. Will Simms and Mrs. Walter Minnich.
Casket bearers were Harold Minnich, Bill Alexander, Paul Simms, Frank Miller Jr., Verne Reece and Leo Kopsa.
Burial was in the Conrad Cemetery.
She was born July 28, 1887 at Leaf River, Ill., a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Piper. She was married to Ralph Bowers on December 18, 1918, and they farmed in the Conrad community. Mr. Bowers died in 1951.
She belonged to the United Methodist Church, was a member of St. Elmo Chapter No. 398 O.E.S., and the East Side Country Club of Conrad.
Survivors are a sister, Mrs. Gladys Piper, Burrell, Colorado, a brother, Dwight Piper of Waterloo, four grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. Leon (Vola) Smith.
Johnston Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
