Retired Co. Farmer Dies In Cedar Falls

A retired Grundy county farmer, Harm J. Boike, 87, of 811 Main Street, Cedar Falls, passed away at the Sartori Memorial Hospital last Saturday morning. He had suffered a heart attack earlier in the week.

Funeral services were to be held this past Tuesday at the Nottger Funeral Home in Cedar Falls with the Rev. Donald Hager officiating. Burial was to be in Elmwood Cemetery at Dike.

Harm Boike was born Sept. 16, 1882 in Germany, son of Harm and Carrie Johnson Boike. He married Emma Saathoff on Feb. 24, 1904 in Ackley. She died in 1942. He then married Frieda Wagner on Oct. 31, 1946 in Nashua. He farmed in Grundy county most of his life.

Survivors include his widow, Frieda; two sons, Herman of Lane Street, Waterloo, and Leslie of New Hartford; three daughters, Mrs. Bernard (Minnie) Ruthenberg of 9th St., Cedar Falls, Mrs. Mabel Henningsen of Olive St., Cedar Falls and Harriett Boike of 2414 Walnut St., Cedar Falls; three step-children, Ralph Wagner of Cedar Falls, Harry of Shell Rock and Mrs. Marcella Klodt of Waterloo; a brother Chris of Clay St., Cedar Falls; seven grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, parents, a brother and a sister.

Harm J. Boike, 88, Dies in Cedar Falls

Services for Harm J. Boike of Cedar Falls were held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Nottger Funeral home.

Burial was in Elmwood cemetery in Dike.

He was born Sept. 16, 1882 in Germany, son of Harm and Carrie Johnson Boike. He married Emma Saathoff Feb. 24, 1904, in Ackley. She died in 1942. He then married Frieda Wagner Oct. 31, 1946, in Nashua. He was a farmer in Grundy County most of his life.

Included among his survivors besides his wife is a son, Herman of Waterloo, who is married to the former Jennie Harrenstein, formerly from the Grundy Center-Holland area.
