Effie Buskohl Services Held
Effie Buskohl, 91, of Grundy Center, passed away Monday, December 18, at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services were held at Bethany Presbyterian Church, Grundy Center, on Wednesday, December 20, at 10 a.m. Rev. Calvin W. Vanderwerf officiated.
Mrs. Raymond Appel was the organist and played selected numbers for the prelude and postlude.
Casket bearers were Don Heikens, Wayne Hoodjer, Lee Renken, Les Hoodjer, Larry Everts and Jake Bergman.
Edward Flater and Vernon Kruger were ushers. Mrs. Vernon Kruger and Mrs. Art Henze were in charge of the floral arrangements.
Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Grundy Center.
Effie Buskohl, daughter of John and Jennie Heronimus Hoodjer, was born December 27, 1897, in Grundy county.
On September 23, 1931, Effie was united in marriage to Harm Buskohl in Nashua. They lived on their farm southeast of Wellsburg until 1945, when they moved to their home in Grundy Center.
Effie entered the Grundy Care Center in January of 1982. In 1986, she was taken to Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo for surgery on a broken hip. From there she was transferred to Long Term Care in Grundy Center.
Effie was preceded in death by her husband Harm in May of 1965; and her parents.
She is survived by four sisters, Katie Harms and Dena Heikens, both of Wellsburg; Tena Everts and Grace Renken, both of Parkersburg; one brother, John Hoodjer, Wellsburg; and by a step-daughter, Mabel Dreesman of Dike.
A memorial fund has been established.
The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
