Rites Held For G. Heronimus

Grace Heronimus, 87, of Wellsburg, passed away on Thursday, November 30, at the Presbyterian Home of Ackley, where she had lived since October of 1986.

Funeral services were held at the First Christian Reformed Church in Wellsburg on Monday, December 4, at 10:30 a.m. Rev. Thomas J. Vos officiated.

Richard Schafer and Lary Riebkes sang "How Great Thou Art" and "Blessed Assurance." They were accompanied by Elizabeth Eekhoff, who also played selected numbers for the prelude and postlude.

Casket bearers were Philip Luppen, Boyd Meyer, Floyd Eiten, Darrell Freese, Melvin Jeske and Dennis Meints.

Melvin Nederhoff and Melvin Haupt were ushers. Mrs. Alice Ruter was in charge of the floral arrangements.

Interment was in the church cemetery.

Grace Marie Heronimus, the daughter of John and Janna Baker Hoffman, was born April 25, 1902, in Emden Ostfriesland, Germany. She came to America with her mother when she was six years old. Her father had passed away when she was one. They made their home with Lutzie Meints, who took Grace in after her mother had died.

Grace was united in marriage to Peter B. Eekhoff on September 20, 1922, at the First Christian Reformed Church parsonage. After their marriage, they farmed southwest of Wellsburg until they retired in 1957, and moved to Wellsburg. Peter passed away in 1959.

Grace was married to John Heronimus in 1961.

Grace had been a life long member of the First Christian Reformed Church and served many of these years on the Ladies Guild.

She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Peter Eekhoff and John Heronimus; and by one son, Lester Boyd Eekhoff.

She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Edward Florence Nederhoff, Wellsburg; and one sister, Ella Freese, Grundy Center.

A memorial fund has been established.

The Doyen-Abels Funeral Home in Wellsburg was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
