Harm Muhring Rites Are Held

Harm Muhring, 91, passed away Sunday, December 3, at the Grundy Care Center in Grundy Center.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 6, at the Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center.

Taped selections were played for the prelude and postlude.

Casket bearers were L. C. "Bud" Pike, Lloyd Dreesman, Jim Copeman, Randy Copeman, Archie Copeman and Raymond Huisman.

Mrs. Vernon Kruger was in charge of the floral arrangements.

Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Grundy Center.

Harm Muhring, the son of Peter E. and Sophia Bleeker Muhring, was born in Grundy county on January 5, 1898. He received his education in Grundy County Schools, after which he worked at various occupations for a few years and then became Superintendent of the Iowa State Highway Department for Grundy county, a position he held for 40 years.

Harm was united in marriage to Reka Kramer on November 14, 1922. They had one son who died in infancy.

Harm was preceded in death by his wife and infant son; his parents; five sisters, Jennie Venenga, Dena Siemsen, Grace Schmorance, Lillia Paige and an infant sister.

He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Anna Siemsen and Mrs. Laura Lines, both of Grundy Center.

A memorial fund has been established.

The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
