Arthur Mertz Rites Saturday

Arthur J. Mertz, 85, of Barrington, IL, passed away on November 22, at the Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington, IL.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 2, at 1 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Grundy Center, with burial in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Arthur J. Mertz was born June 2, 1904, in Grundy Center. He graduated from Creighton University. He was the national vice president of Carpenter Nationwide Page Division of Champion International Corporation. He was employed in Omaha, Minnesota and Chicago. Arthur was a 37 years employee and retired in 1970.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Elks Club, Kiwanis, and the Alpha Sigma Nu Honorary Jesuit Fraternity. He was also involved in other social clubs and organizations prior to his retirement.

Arthur was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice, on October 22.

He is survived by two sons, Donald K. Mertz, Barrington, IL, and Bryan A. Mertz, Huntsville, UT; and two grandchildren.
