Rites Held For Sylvia Coulter

Sylvia A. Coulter, 79, of Conrad, passed away Monday, November 19, at Oakview Nursing Home, in Conrad, where she had resided since April of this year.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 21, at 1:30 p.m. at the Conrad United Methodist Church, with Rev. David Crow officiating.

Casket bearers were Wesley Demmon, Les Coulter, Vic Dielschneider, Don McLean, Don Zern and Mike Stubbs.

Interment was held at the Conrad Cemetery.

Sylvia A. Coulter, daughter of Isaac N. and Carrie Enghjer Critser, was born January 13, 1911, in Worthington, MN. She graduated from the Conrad High School in 1929.

Sylvia was united in marriage to James "Roland" Coulter in Decorah on October 4, 1930. They were owners of R&S Electric in Conrad. Sylvia resided in Conrad most of her life. She was at the Long Term Care Unit of the Grundy County Memorial Hospital for a month prior to becoming a resident at Oakview.

She was a member of the Conrad United Methodist Church, and a life member of United Methodist Women, Dorcas Quilters, and the Progress Club.

She was preceded in death by one daughter and one brother.

Sylvia is survived by her husband, Roland; one son, Robert Coulter, of Conrad; one daughter, Charlotte Demmon, Marshalltown; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; one sister, Claudia Underwood, Lakewood, CA; and two brothers, Lyle and Clinton Critser, both of Conrad.

The Johnston Funeral Home in Conrad was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
