Lilyan Fritzel Services Held

Lilyan Fritzel, 81, of Grundy Center, passed away Sunday, October 14, at the Long Term Care Unit of the Grundy County Memorial Hospital.

Graveside services were held Wednesday, October 17, at 11 a.m., at Rose Hill Cemetery, Grundy Center.

Memorials may be directed to the Long Term Care Unit, Grundy County Memorial Hospital, Grundy Center.

Lilyan Gazina Fritzel, the daughter of John and Ella Stumberg Arends, was born October 12, 1909, in Grundy Center. She grew up and attended school in Grundy county, graduating from the Grundy Center High School in 1927.

Lilyan was united in marriage to Melvin Fritzel on August 22, 1930, in Grundy Center.

She was preceded in death by her husband Melvin; one daughter, Barbara Dimke; one infant son, Larry; and her parents.

Surviving her is a son, Dr. John C. Fritzel, Des Moines; three grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; two brothers, Dick and Douglas Arends, both of Grundy Center; and one sister, Margaret Helfrick, Leiserworld, CA.

The Engelkes_Abels Funeral Home, Grundy Center, was in charge of the professional arrangements.
